Hi there, I’m Alan Rickman, the creator of this blog! During the week I work as IT & Delivery Manager, for a B2B online gambling software provider. Outside of work, my interests are wide ranging, and include video games, photography, reading, sports and catching the latest movies! I juggle quite a hectic lifestyle which often revolves around technology.
I’ve grown up surrounded by computers, you could say they take up a big part of my life! Over the last 10-15 years I’ve had the benefit of experiencing first hand, the fast pace of change in the world of technology; from the emergence of Napster, it’s later demise, and more recently the social networking revolution(?). It’s the social networking sites which gave me the name for my blog. Whenever I use any of these sites I often find myself repeating the same phrase “Not the famous actor”. So, I thought, this time I’d get in there right at the beginning!
I’m a self confessed gadget-a-holic, if I can come up with an “excuse” to buy a new toy I normally will. I am, however, becoming a little more restraint these days. Having once made it my mission to avoid all things Apple, the tides changed over the last 18 months. Now the proud owner of several iDevices including iPhone, iPad, and iPod. Perhaps you’ve spotted the one item missing from the mix – the iMac. That’s the next gadget on the list, however, I fear I may not lay my hands on one of these until at least the end of the year.
That’s a little about me. So why create a blog?
I’ve wanted a domain name for myself for some time, and I recently discovered the .me.uk domain. To my amazement alanrickman.me.uk was available. After registering the domain I thought I’d setup my first blog. I, like so many of you, spend hours of my day trawling the web. Whether it be researching how to do something, reading about new technology, or just killing some time.
With that in mind, I thought this would be a great opportunity to enter the world of blogging. I plan to blog about what’s going on in my life and anything techie which tickles my fancy. Hopefully, some of what I write will be of interest and maybe even prove useful to you.
